The long-awaited Texas Roadhouse has finally opened its doors in Battle Creek, and we decided to check out the action on opening night.
Arriving around 8:00 PM, we were immediately greeted at the door and added to the waitlist for what turned out to be a very reasonable 20ā30 minute wait, impressive for an opening night crowd.
While we waited, we were ushered to a comfortable outdoor waiting area, complete with overhead heaters, a thoughtful touch that Michigan diners will definitely appreciate when the chill sets in later this year.
When our names were called, we were escorted into an āon deckā room decorated with local sports team jerseys, a fun nod to Battle Creekās community pride. Starters That Set the ToneOnce seated, we kicked things off with an order of Tater Skins.
When asked if we wanted extra cheese and bacon, we politely declined, and it turned out to be a great call. These were already loaded to perfection, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and piled high with toppings.
Our House Salads followed, and they were far from an afterthought.
Generous portions with fresh greens, croutons, shredded cheese, tomatoes, and hard-boiled eggs, a satisfying start in their own right. š„© Steaks Cooked Just RightFor entrĆ©es, my wife chose the 6 oz. Sirloin, cooked to a perfect medium, tender, flavorful, and exactly how she ordered it.
I went with the 8 oz. Sirloin, cooked medium-rare, topped with sautƩed mushrooms and onions for extra flavor, and paired it with a hearty side of chili.
Every bite lived up to the Texas Roadhouse reputation, juicy, well-seasoned, and hot off the grill. Midway through dinner, the staff broke into a line dance right in the dining area! It was a lively surprise that brought smiles to everyone around.
Itās hard not to love an atmosphere where the team clearly enjoys their work, and the guests get a little entertainment along with their meal. š Exceptional Teamwork & ServiceAs a former restaurant manager, I couldnāt help but notice the amazing teamwork in action.
Every team member seemed tuned in, picking up plates, helping one another, and keeping things moving smoothly.
A special shoutout goes to Mallory, our server, who made sure everything was just right, from our drink refills to the timing of each course.
She checked in often enough to feel cared for but never intrusive.
I was also impressed by a clever manager visit system.
When we were seated, a small ticket was taped to the edge of our table.
During our visit, two different managers stopped byāeach removing part of the ticket to ensure that every guest received two personal manager check-ins.
Itās a subtle but brilliant way to guarantee quality service and guest satisfaction. DĆ©cor & AtmosphereThe dĆ©cor blends fun, Americana charm with local flair.
We spotted a cozy Willie Nelson tribute corner and caricatures of NASCAR racers above the bar.
It's just the kind of personality you expect from Texas Roadhouse, with a local twist that makes Battle Creekās location feel special. Final ThoughtsOpening night is usually when restaurants show their rough edges, but this team was firing on all cylinders.
From the kitchen to the front of house, itās clear the management and staff worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth launch.
Between the great food, friendly service, energetic vibe, and smart systems in place, Battle Creekās new Texas Roadhouse is off to an impressive start.
ā Rating: 5/5 for opening night performance
