Monday Night Magic at Friends & Co: A Battle Creek Gem |
Cold Nights, Hot Chips, and 16 Screens: Why Friends & Co is the Ultimate Battle Creek Hangout |
When the snow starts falling in Battle Creek, Michigan, it’s easy to want to hunker down at home.
But tonight, we decided to brave the elements and head over to Friends & Co on Columbia Ave.
Arriving around 7:45 PM, I was immediately struck by how lively the atmosphere was for a "cold and snowy" Monday night.
The dining room is a sports fan’s paradise, surrounded by about 16 TVs playing various games, you won’t miss a single play here.
The service was remarkably efficient. We were greeted within three minutes and had menus and drinks in hand almost instantly.
Our experience was handled by a great tag-team of servers, specifically Bergie, who took over and was exceptional.
She was friendly, kept our drinks refilled, and cleared the table with impressive speed.
Now, let’s talk about the food. We started with the Friends Chips ($10), which are deep-fried with special seasoning and served with nacho cheese. They arrived piping hot and the cheese had a subtle spicy heat that paired perfectly with the seasoned chips.
For the main course, my wife opted for a Build-Your-Own Burger. She’s becoming quite the connoisseur of local "Pub Burgers," and she gave this one high marks.
I went with The Cuban ($14), which features Black Forest ham, pulled pork, and chipotle mayo on a sub bun.
The bun was excellent and the meats were incredibly flavorful. Of course, I had to test the coleslaw.
It passed with flying colors, very creamy with a distinct "bite," likely from a hint of horseradish.
It is a must-try for any slaw fan.
With the food coming out "extra fast" and the hospitality being top-tier, Friends & Co has officially earned a spot in our approved rotation.
If you’re looking for a great meal in Battle Creek, this is a winner.
