Homer’s Porch Swing Bakery Will Close After Ten Years
Owner Emily Tewell says falling sales and rising ingredient costs have made the Calhoun County bakery unsustainable.

Porch Swing Bakery & Kitchen in Homer plans to close at the end of 2026 after ten years in business, according to a report published by WWMT on October 23rd, 2026.
Owner Emily Tewell told the station that sales began falling about a year ago and were down 52% by the end of April.
She shifted the bakery toward preorders and catering to reduce waste, but said current sales were still covering little more than overhead and she had effectively been working without pay.
The bakery has offered pies, cakes and other sweets along with grab-and-go lunches, frozen meals and event orders from its storefront at 115 East Main Street in the Village of Homer.
Tewell also described rising ingredient costs, saying an apple pie that sold for $18 when the storefront first opened now costs $25 while leaving little margin for the business.
She said stepping away will allow her to spend more time with her children and family.
Event orders will continue through the end of 2026, and customers should confirm availability directly with the bakery.
