Torti Taco Brings Authentic Flavor, Huge Portions, and One of Battle Creek’s Best Salsa Surprises
Fresh Homemade Salsas, Authentic Street Tacos, Massive Burritos, and Family-Friendly Service Make This Beckley Road Favorite Worth the Visit

If you’ve driven down Beckley Road lately, chances are you’ve probably noticed the colorful storefront at Torti Taco.
This week, we finally stopped in to see what all the buzz was about, and after one visit, it’s easy to understand why this place has built such a loyal following.
When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly busy.
Torti Taco isn’t a huge place, but it had a great energy to it.
There was a large family-style table enjoying dinner, another smaller group eating nearby, and still just enough open seating for us to grab a table comfortably. Right away, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed.
One thing that stood out immediately was how friendly everyone was. The staff clearly felt like family, and that warmth carried throughout the entire experience.
Even with a busy dining room, the food came out quickly and everything felt fresh.
We started with an order of the asada nachos as an appetizer, and honestly, they could have been a meal by themselves.
The plate arrived piled high with toppings and loaded with flavor.
At just $10, it felt like an incredible value in today’s world where appetizer prices can easily climb much higher.
The steak was flavorful, the toppings were generous, and every bite had that satisfying mix of crunch, cheese, and fresh ingredients that great nachos should have.
For the main meal, my wife ordered a chicken burrito while I went with the asada burrito.
Both burritos were absolutely massive.
These weren’t tiny fast-food burritos ... these were hefty, stuffed-to-the-edge meals that delivered serious value for the money.
The chicken was tender and flavorful, while the asada had a rich grilled flavor that worked perfectly with the fresh ingredients packed inside.
I also added a traditional street-style chorizo taco on corn tortillas topped with onion and cilantro.
This may have been my favorite bite of the night.
The chorizo had outstanding flavor with the kind of authentic seasoning you hope for when ordering a true street taco.
Simple, traditional, and delicious.
But the thing that really made Torti Taco stand out was something I almost overlooked.
As we sat waiting for our food, I noticed what appeared to be a cold prep line sitting out in the dining room area.
At first, it seemed unusual.
Then after the food arrived, I asked for hot sauce expecting the typical bottle of Cholula or something similar.
Instead, I discovered that what I had been looking at was actually a full salsa bar.
And not just a basic salsa station either.
The salsa bar was filled with fresh homemade sauces, including vegan salsa options and multiple heat levels ranging from mild to very spicy.
The mango salsa was especially impressive with a sweet, fresh flavor that paired perfectly with the food, while the verde salsa featured chunky tomatillo and a bright freshness that made it hard to stop going back for more.
That salsa bar alone gives Torti Taco something unique.
You just don’t see many places putting that level of care and variety into complimentary sauces anymore.
Combined with the authentic flavors, generous portions, fast service, and friendly atmosphere, it made for one of the more enjoyable casual dining experiences we’ve had in quite a while.
The new murals also deserve a mention. They add a fun, vibrant personality to the dining room and help give the restaurant a memorable feel the moment you walk in.
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, generous portions, and a place that still feels family-run and welcoming, Torti Taco is definitely worth a visit.
