Survey Reveals America's Favorite Thanksgiving Side Dishes |
Stuffing Leads the Pack, with Regional Variations Adding Flavor to Holiday Tables |
As Thanksgiving approaches, a recent survey highlights the nation's favorite side dishes, with stuffing emerging as the top choice in 42 states.
According to the 2025 State of the Sides report, conducted by a leading food company, stuffing or dressing continues to reign supreme, appearing in the top three choices across all 50 states.
Following closely, mashed potatoes secured the number one spot in nine states, including Indiana, Kansas, New Mexico, and Washington.
Sweet potatoes claimed the third position nationally, while mac and cheese and green bean casserole rounded out the top five.
Notably, mac and cheese topped the list in Florida and New York, reflecting regional preferences.
In a shift from traditional recipes, many Americans are embracing new flavors in their side dishes.
Trending additions for 2025 include honey, hot peppers, and BBQ sauce, indicating a willingness to experiment with sweet and spicy profiles.
Furthermore, the survey revealed that 63% of respondents prefer side dishes over the main entrƩe, with nearly half expressing contentment with a plate full of sides alone.
This underscores the growing importance of side dishes in the Thanksgiving feast.
Regional favorites also add diversity to the holiday table.
For instance, collard greens are cherished in Georgia, Maryland, and South Carolina, while cornbread dressing is a staple in Louisiana.
These variations highlight the rich culinary traditions that contribute to the Thanksgiving experience across the United States.
As families gather to celebrate, the emphasis on side dishes reflects a broader trend of personalization and regional pride in holiday meals.
Whether sticking to time-honored recipes or incorporating new flavors, Americans are making their Thanksgiving feasts uniquely their own. |
