Smoke, Cheese, and a Packed House: Que the Cheese Festival Draws Huge Crowd in Battle Creek

A new combined festival brings together barbecue lovers and mac and cheese fans for one unforgettable night at Kellogg Arena

šŸ”„ Trending

If there is one thing Battle Creek knows how to do well, it is show up for good food.

That was on full display last Saturday as the Que the Cheese Festival packed Kellogg Arena with hungry guests ready to enjoy some of the best barbecue and mac and cheese creations in the area.

This year marked the first time the Que the Creek barbecue festival and the Mac and Cheese Festival joined forces into one big event.

The result was a massive turnout and an atmosphere that felt more like a celebration than a simple tasting event.

The moment you stepped onto the arena floor, you knew you were in the right place.

The rich smell of smoked meats filled the air as vendors worked their grills and smokers while guests moved from booth to booth sampling dishes.

Battle Creek restaurants and food trucks were well represented throughout the event.

Familiar names from around the city drew steady lines of visitors eager to try their specialties.

One of our longtime favorites, St. Samuel’s, was there serving up their signature flavors.

Other well known local vendors included Big Mose, Ambrosia, and One Nation Tap & Table, which once again brought their popular Parmesan cheese wheel that has become a fan favorite.

It was also great to see City Barbeque representing at the festival.

As a former employee myself, it was nice to run into some familiar faces and see them bringing their barbecue game to the crowd.

Of course, no food festival is complete without discovering something memorable to eat.

One standout dish came from Mitts to Pitts, where I ended up enjoying an incredible serving of brisket alongside a rich and flavorful mac and cheese topped with crispy fried pork belly.

The combination of smoky meat, creamy cheese, and that crunchy pork belly made it one of those dishes you wish you could go back and order again.

Throughout the evening, the arena remained packed as guests sampled dishes, chatted with vendors, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere.

The crowd energy never really slowed down, which says a lot about how much people enjoyed the event.

There was a live band playing which added to the festive atmosphere.

Food festivals like this have become a great way for the Battle Creek community to support local restaurants while also discovering new favorites.

With so many talented cooks and food trucks in the area, events like Que the Cheese give them a chance to showcase their creativity while bringing people together over something everyone can appreciate, Good food.

All in all, the first combined Que the Cheese Festival was a clear success.

The food was great, the crowd showed up in force, and the atmosphere made for a fun night out in downtown Battle Creek.

If this year was any indication, this festival may quickly become one of the must attend food events on the local calendar.
