"Penfield Plaza's Hidden Gem: Dive into McGonagle's Market & Deli for a Local Lunch Experience like No Other!"

If you’re in Penfield, you know our lunch options are… well… limited.

After rotating through the same handful of fast food spots one too many times, I decided to finally stop into McGonagle’s Deli in the Penfield Plaza, and I’m glad I did.

I’ve had McGonagle’s pizza before at their restaurant and always enjoyed it, so I already knew they could do great things.

But this time I wanted to try something from the deli side of the menu.

After a few minutes of studying all the paninis, sandwiches, and specials, I decided on the Roast Beef Sandwich.

Right away, the staff made a great impression.

I mentioned it was my first time in, and the young lady at the counter gave a knowing smile, like she already knew I was about to become a repeat customer.

The sandwich maker behind the counter even double-checked that I ordered the roast beef hot (because, as she said, “That’s the best way to do it”}.

She also let me know the whole wheat bread hadn’t proofed up quite the way they liked that day and suggested I switch to white instead.

I appreciated the honesty and took her advice.

When I got the sandwich, it was huge.

The kind of sandwich where you look at it and immediately know you're only eating half now and saving the rest for tomorrow.

And the flavor? Absolutely fantastic.

The roast beef was tender and flavorful, topped with Gouda cheese, a touch of horseradish, and just a drizzle of balsamic syrup that tied everything together beautifully.

Every bite had that perfect balance of savory, creamy, and just a little zing.

All of that , and a portion big enough for two meals, for about $12.

In a world where lunch prices keep creeping up and sandwiches keep shrinking, it’s refreshing to find a place giving real value and real quality.

Not only will I be returning, this has officially made its way into my regular lunch rotation.

If you’re in Penfield and tired of the same old drive-thru options, do yourself a favor and give McGonagle’s a try. The staff is friendly, the food is thoughtfully made, and the sandwiches are no joke.
